About the author
What made you want to write a novel?
I’ve had a passion for writing ever since I took an honors level essay writing class in high school. I never pursued a career in writing, but I’ve always enjoyed writing and wanted to write a novel at some point.
After many years working as a designer, I have found myself at a crossroads and in need of a conduit for my creative energy. I have chosen to pen a novel and I am excited about the creative journey I am about to embark on.
What is your novel about?
My novel is about the brotherhood and bonds that are created through the sport of hockey. I have always been a firm believer that team sports mold young human minds to be considerate, charitable, and great human beings overall in all aspects of life.
I wanted to write a novel to showcase that aspect of the game and how learning to overcome obstacles in sport make a person more resilient to the challenges life brings outside of the rink as well.
Where did you get your inspiration?
I have played hockey since I was six years old and still play the game today. I figured if I was going to write a novel, it should be about something I am passionate about through my own life experiences.
I think what makes writing this book so much fun is that I get to mix in my own life experiences across several characters in the book without the book being autobiographical in any sense.
What are your aspirations for your book?
I have so much passion for this creative effort that I have the goal, albeit lofty, to have this novel be successful enough for me to be able to pivot my career from being a designer to being a full time author.
I even have a dream of this novel becoming a full feature length film.
Whether that dream pans out or not, I don’t want to reach the twilight of my life knowing that I never tried.
